How to compress graphics

D

Dan

What is the best way to insert a picture into a word doc.
I am trying to find a way that takes the least amount of
space. Would you insert a picture from a file ,paste the
picture, or use the paste special option? What would take
the least amount of space gif, bmp, or jpg.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Insert | Picture | From File. Generally speaking, a GIF or JPG will be
smaller than a BMP or TIF, but the latter may be more suitable for printing.

Please confine test posts to NGs with "test" in the name.

Tried that from Visio 2000 originals today using Word 10.
In previous versions there was no problem. Today the
linked (or inserted) images were remarkably fuzzy, much
worse than ever in the past. Any ideas?

Try converting into PNG. This is a lossless compression
(such as ZIP). I use this method and also link the PNG to
the doc instead of embedding it. Both doc and pngs
sometimes also fit in a 1"44 floppy...
