How to configure my OutlookXP NOT to send/recieve mails at startup?

Hi all,

I'm using OutlookXP as my mail client software at home and school,
while I don't have an internet connection at home. Every time I open
Outlook at home, it still put lotsa time on sending and recieving
mails without any possiblity to success.
Would you please tell me how to disable this function?
Any help will be appreciated.
