How to connect Access DB via VC++ programming?

Dear All..
I m working on editor based application.
For the 'mail merge' functionality.. I need to connect the Access
Database.. Following are the steps for that..
1) User first select the document.. either empty or existing.
2) Then he/she select the Access database via "open" dialog box.
Now when user select the database...I need to connect it & store it .
How do I connect the same?
What is the procedure or codes to store & connect the database with my
application?
