How to control how word looks when other people open the document?

Is it possible to save Word document settings so that when other
people open the document they don't see things such as markups and so
they see it in "print view?"
It seem like this is impossible and the only solution is to create a
PDF out of the word document which lets you control all of the default
open document settings.
