how to control line spacing?

A

Anthony B H

I am using Word 2007.

Sometimes, when I fill in a form, the line spacing, seems to be double
spaced. But I do not want spaces between the lines after I hit "return"?

How do control this spacing between lines? Just like simple .txt files.

Thank you.

Make sure that the Line Spacing is set to "Single," and that the Spacing
Before and After are both set to zero. You'll find these options in the
Paragraph dialog box; to display it, click the dialog launcher button (on
the bottom right) of the Paragraph group of the Home ribbon tab.

Note that if you want to change the defaults, do this: Press
Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S to display the Styles pane. Click the Manage Styles button.
On the Set Defaults tab, specify the desired settings. If you want to
transfer the settings to the attached template (which is normal.dotm if you
are working in a new, blank document), make sure to click the "New documents
based on this template" option before clicking OK.

Also note that if you are working in a *protected* form, you will have to
unprotect it before you can change any settings: On the Review tab, click
Protect Document, and then click Restrict Formatting and Editing to display
the task pane. Click Stop Protection.
