How to copy a formula to another sheet

Hi

I have a sheet where some of the columns are calculated as a combination
of data in other columns. I use formulas to do it.
When I want to copy any formula within the sheet it is easy using Spacial Paste.
I have also other sheets in the same or in other files which are very similar
but I don't know how to copy my formulas there.

Could anyone help me? I'd be very grateful.

What happens if you just open the other workbook and edit|copy and
edit|pastespecial values (or formulas).

If your formulas still point to worksheets in the original workbook, you may be
able to copy from the formula bar and paste into the formula bar.

Thanks for your answer.

When I copy a formula within the same sheet I select it, then I use
"Copy" and then I use"Paste Special" where I can select "Formula"
in the same way as I can select "Value" to copy just value.
When I try to do the same copying a formula to another workbook
I get a different kind of window which contains things like Object,
Format, Bitmap etc.but no "Formula" to choose.

I have never used something like formulas which point to another
sheet or workbook. I simply want to copy formulas and use the sheets
separately.
However if it was the only way to solve my problem I could consider it,
but at the moment I don't know how to do it.

You have two different instances of excel open.

Close one of them and then use File|open (or its xl2007 equivalent) to open the
other workbook.

Then try your copy|paste.

I tried to do it according to your advice but after opening the second file
(the one where I want to paste the formula to) I get a windows with:
Text Unicode
Text
and nothing more.

I solved the problem partially. I was wrong thinking that it doesn't work
when I copy a formula to onother sheet in the same workbook.
It is OK within the same sheet and within the same workbook.
So I can copy the second file as an another sheet to the workbook
with the first sheet and copy formulas. Then I have to copy the second
sheet to a new workbook. It is necessary because I have to use
MailMerge afterwords.

You still have two instances of excel running.

Close all the running instances of excel (just to start from a clean slate).

Then open excel.
File|open the first workbook.
File|open the second workbook.
(Using file|open will insure that you only have one instance of excel running.)

Try the copy|paste.

Thank you very much. It works. :)
