How to copy web page text without Word shutting down with error?

Every time I try to copy text from a web page, Word 2003 gives me an error
message and then shuts down, without doing the paste. Since it won't even
copy and paste it in HTML format (all I want is the text), this sounds like a
major problem here.

It would be really helpful if you could tell us what error message Word is
reporting.

Such problems generally are the result of some kind of corruption. You might

I get an error message that says it "has encountered an error and must shut
down," nothing more specific than that. At other times, it will paste the
first set of text I copy OK, but then subsequent pastes don't appear on the
page, altho they do show up in the Clipboard window. I can click on them from
now until Kingdom Come.....and they don't appear in the Word document. I've
even disabled my McAfee programs, in case it has to do with a firewall
problem, but no luck there. I've gone back to using Word 97 for now, since
there are no problems with that. This sounds like it has something to do with
the Office-wide Clipboard program?
