How to create a Enterprise Project Template?

Jean Bujold

Hello!

Kinda new at setting up the Project Server 2003. I am looking at how to
setup the Enterprise Project Templates. I need the basics and advanced
knowledge. Where can I get more info?

By basic I mean like how to create and save so that all server users can
access a Project template.

By advanced,
* How do I get the Enterprise templates tab in the client app to show the
list of templates?
* Is it possible to create sub groups of templates or different tabs so
that each dept can have their own templates?
* What happens if I change the template after someone has started using
it?

Any source of information (books, web site, people, etc) would be
welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

Basic: To create an enterprise project template, launch Microsoft Project
Professional and log into Project Server, create the project, click File -
Save As, select Template from the Type pick list, and then click the Save
button. If the project already exists as an .mpp file, you can import the
project as a template using Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to
Enterprise, and then select Template from the Type pick list on the first
page of the wizard.

Advanced: Complete either of the above methods to get the Enterprise
Templates tab to display in the Templates dialog.

Advanced: You cannot create subgroups in the Enterprise Templates tab.

Advanced: If you change an enterprise project template after others have
created new projects from it, this will have no effect on any of those
existing projects. The changes will only affect those who create new
projects from the template after you modify the template.
