How to create a file association

For some reason now when I double click on the word 2033 icon to open it, I
get an error message stating that this program doesn't have a file associated
with it and to create one in the folder options control panel. At this time
I can't even open word at all. How can a make an association to the program?

that open dialog box and there search and select winword.exe (C:\Program

Hello, when I clicked on the help button I got an error message that
read...This file does not have a program associated with it for performing
this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel. In
fact I am now getting this error message for most icons on my desk top and
start menus. And if I right click and hit open I sometimes get an message
that widows can't open an .exe file. I don't know what is going on.

You have a serious problem that has nothing to do with Word. I suggest you
switch this to the Vista Newsgroup.
