How to create audio clips from existing file for inserting in ppt?

I have 90 minute audio files, some in WMA format, others are wave files. I
want to clip out sections of each file to insert in a presentation. Pointers
anyone? I can see the process of insertion. My problem is how to create the
audio clips.
