how to create drawings from external data

I am using cisco works ( a network management tool). The tool allows to
export a topology view of the network to visio. I did it, but I don´t know
how to create drawings in visio from external databases, for example a comma
separated value file.

The CiscoWorks implementation relied upon a custom stencil that they supplied
and the export that you mentioned. Unfortunately MS dropped the text import
into Visio several years ago, so the Cisco support was lost. I've always
thought it would be an interesting thing to look at, but I've never seen
anyone actually attempt to use the Cisco output.
