Let's see . . . Both are solemn occasions during the main event, which is
followed with a special reception that usually includes music, dancing and
drinking. Then the main character(s) that the occasion is (are) held for are
not usually around for a while (OK, in the case of a funeral, quite a long
while). Special clothes are considered appropriate for either occasion, both
on the part of the center(s) of attention, as well as the invitees. And
women cry for both occasions. Quite often there is some religious person
involved.
Except for small differences, hard to tell the difference between the two .
