how to customize page numbers in page margin?

The problem is that the required format for the document is:

text body: 1" margins all around
page numbers: 0.5" from top and 0,5" from right

I tried insert tab, select page margin and it brings up a dozen styles.
None of them are a simple number in the upper right corner 1/2" from the
sides.
If I insert a number as upper right in header, the page number stays INSIDE
the margin and not outside.

Any solutions to the dilemma? I'd really appreciate the help!

Well, first of all, the header margin is 0.5" by default, which gets you
halfway there. You just need to add a negative 0.5" right indent to the
header paragraph to position the page number where you need it.
