If you need help on declaring variables in general, try looking at VBA
Help (in the VBA Editor, click F1).

An introduction to Word VBA can be found at:

Getting to know VBA takes a lot of time, so be prepared to spend some
time experimenting with code! Note that Word has the ability to record
macros, which can be really helpful.

However, if you are trying to accomplish something specific, please
ask a more specific question, based on the desired result, rather than
on (possible) methods. Perhaps it can be done without a macro.
