How to define User Hierarchy in MS Project Server 2003

Hi! Can somebody help me out in defining User Hierarchy (like P
--> ML --> Developer) in MS Project 2003

My main aim is to give limited view rights to the Module leaders fo
their team members. I've tried to check the same in Enterprise Globa
Resource , but couldn't find any way to do it.

In connection to the same area, i'd also like to provide only vie
rights to senior people who are basically not assigned to any rol
but would like to monitor the progress of the project.

So if someone can give solution to these, it would be great help t
me

Thanks - Jines

Hello again Jinesh,

You need to configure the Resource Breakdown Structure (RBS) in
your project server's enterprise global. This is the last field in the
enterprise resource outline codes.

I generally recommend a RBS structure very similar to the way you
company is organized.

Data access can then be managed using security Categories in
Project Web Access (PWA). What people can do with the data is
managed using Groups.

For categories..

My Organization can see everything at or below them in the RBS
My Tasks can see only task they are assigned to
My Projects can see only projects they manage

For Groups...

Executives PWA only. read almost everything, write nothing
Project Managers PWA or MS Project, can create and write
Team Members PWA only, write and update what they are assigned

You can define new groupsin PWA Admin to meet you local requirements.

I was under the understanding that giving someone the "My Organization"
category would give them access to everything on the server, and didn't
reference RBS for permissions.

I'm trying to set up security to allow users to view everything at or below
their RBS.

My RBS looks like this:
1. Corp
1.1 Div 1
1.1.1 Job Function 1
1.1.2 Job Function 2
1.2 Div 2
1.1.1 Job Function 1
....etc

I'd like to be assigning project/resource managers (they're going ot be the
same people) to the "Division" level (1.1), and have them able to see all
projects and resources associated with that division.

The way it's set up now, is that we have categories for all the divisions,
and are manually adding projects to those categories, but i'd like to remove
this level of administration, and make it implicit.

Thanks
- James
