How to delete attachment in Meeting invite

I am using Outlook 2007. When I get a meeting invite that has a file
attachment embedded in the Description text, the attachment cannot be
deleted. This is while the meeting invite is still in the Inbox as opposed
to being in the Calendar where it can be deleted. For embedded attachments
in Mail messages I can select "Edit Message" under the "Other Actions" button
and then delete, but this function does not exist in a meeting invite. How
is it done then?

Yes that deletes it in the Calendar, but does not delete the attachment from
the appointment in the Inbox or Mailbox? That is what I was asking about.
