How to delete EMail Return Reciept msg when it is not in Outbox ?

I received that had a Return Reciept request which I responded YES to send
the Receipt. However, the attempt by Outlook to send the Receipt continues
to fail with an error message about not being able to contact the server. I
can send other message okay.

I would like to delete the Receipt message but it is not in my Outbox.
Outlook attempts every couple of minutes to send it.
