How to delete folders in contacts

Lets see if I can explain this. We are running Outlook 2003, had set up
contract in subfolders. We have now moved all contact back to main contact
folder.

When we start a new message and click on To: (to bring up contacts) it still
shows all of the sub folders (even though I have delete them all)

Any idea on how to stop these old contract folders from showing when
starting a new message.

Sure. Just remove them here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change… >
