how to detect valid license/registration in Word?

Hello,

I'm automating Word, and it seems like when Office is a fresh installation
(and therefore does not have a valid registration yet), it is causing some
problems with the automation. How can I check to see if Word has a valid
license? (or is registered)? I need to do this programmatiically, so that
my program knows not to move ahead...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,
