How to determine if SP1 is installed in Office 2003

I downloaded the updates for Office 2003 (SP1) for my laptop and the
installation failed. The suggested remedy to use the full (larger) size
download files also gave a failed installation. This problem did not occur on
the same downloads for my desktop. The knowledge base and other info sources
on the MS website were not fruitful for ideas of what is wrong with my laptop
installation. Does anyone have any suggestions? Could the SP1 be already
installed, and the download web page incorrectly determined its status? Where
can I find the version status of MS Office on my computer?
