How to determine MDW file DB was created under?

I have a database that was created when the user was pointing to workgroup
file A. We upgraded to 2003 and the user is now pointing to workgroup file
B. They are not able to open their older database. I tried pointing them to
the old workgroup file A and then tried opening the older database and that
still did not work.

Is there a way to find out WHAT security workgroup file a DB was created
with? Keep in mind that we are not able to open the file at all right now.

No there isn't. When you try to open the older database using workgroup
file A, what error message do you get. How are you doing this?
