how to disable drawing aid pop ups

Hi,

I created a cross functional flow but without using anything from the cross
functional flow stencil as it only allows 5 swimlanes - I needed 10!

The problem is that everytime I open up the visio file, the cross functional
"wizard" pops up asking me how many lanes I'd like in my drawing.

How do I get rid of this pop up?
Is there a way to change drawing type - i.e use a predefined type but
cutomize it and calling it a different name?

Create a drawing from regular flowchart template, then copy everything over?
You can open the cross-function shapes stencil with the template, and it
will open with the drawing whenever you need to edit it.

yep, that was what I did.

I thought there is some sort of "drawing properties" that I can set.

Thanks for the tip!

I went hunting for it once and was also frustrated. I think it's some sort
of PersistEvent deal, which needs to be set via code.

Note that you can add more swimlanes by dropping a "Functional band" shape
from the Cross Functional Flowchart Shapes stencil onto a cross functional
flowchart.

doh ! why they (Visio) do that to!! <pulling me hair out>

I have now recreated my chart using the cross functional template. It is
easier to dynamically size the swimlanes (cf. to lining boxes to grids).

Hi,

I tried cross functional flow drawing and encountered problems in "off page"
reference. (I mistakenly posted this in the New Users group). It is a
continuation of this story...

I am having some problem creating "new page" off page reference in my cross
functional drawing.

setup:
- created cross functional drawing
- created 1 background sheet with cross functional flow
- created 1 foreground drawing called "page 1"

steps:
- in "page 1", if I drag a off page reference shape to the drawing, the
standard off page reference dialoge box pops up.
- I selected create in new page

issue:
- when the new page "Page 2" is created, it is created in a new sheet
arranged after the the background. The page is also blank (i.e. no
background).
- the page cannot be moved before background.
(page1, background 1,page2) --> page2 cannot be moved before background.
When creating off page reference, how can I create a new page with
background automatically?

I did before this successfully in a non-crossfunctional drawing (all shapes
created from scratch). My cross functional drawing has about 10 swimlanes.

I have more information on the off page reference.

When I insert an off page reference, it seems like visio inserts a new
background page instead of foreground page.

Any idea why visio off page reference inserts a background page?

cheers,

JB
