How to disable mailto link under Excel 2000 ?

When there is a "@" character in cell, it will turn into mailto link directly.
If I remove the link and edit the cell, the link appears again.
All the solution I can found are for Excel 2002 and later.
How to disable mailto link under Excel 2000 ?
