How to display *inside* dimensions

Gus

Currently when my Visio documents show dimensions for a wall, they're shown
from the midpoint *within* a wall.
For example, if I have a space measuring 3m x 3m surrounded by walls that
are 20cm thick, then the dimensions show the walls' length as 3.2m. I'd
like to change the defaults so that it shows the dimensions from the *inner*
point of the wall. In others words so that it shows the dimensions as 3.0m
in length. How do I set this as the default on Visio?
I seem to recall seeing a settings box that allowed this to be done...but of
course now that I'm looking for it, I can no longer find it!

I've already hunted via the web and Visio's online help but can't find an
answer.

Thanks,
Gus

Hi Gus.
I'm not sure what version of Visio you are running, but
I'm using Visio 2002 and have an idea you can try. Not
sure if this will fix your issue, but it seems to be
working for my drawings.

Select a wall segment, right click, choose "customer
properties", and check the Wall Justification drop down.
Make sure it is set to "Edge" and not "Centered". I
believe this is the default for the shapes in the Walls,
Shells, and Structures Stencil.

Also, double check to make sure your walls are 1
dimensional lines and not 2 dimensional boxes (Format /
Behavior when right clicking the wall).

With my walls set this way, I am getting true inside
dimensions.

TJ - Thanks for the suggestions. I'm using Visio 2000. I've checked that
"1 dimensional lines" is selected - it is - so tried to find the Wall
Justification drop down (under "Custom Properties) and there isn't one. I'm
given only 2 options: "wall thickness" and "reference line offset"...but no
Wall Justification. I'll keep trial and (mostly) erroring, but if you have
any other ideas, I'm gratefully all ears!
Thanks
Gus
