How to display MS-Word fractions on a Mac?

I've received Word doc files that contain fractions. The fractions
only show up on my Mac (OS X) as the underscore character. I need to
know what the fractions are because the doc is a recipe I'm making.
If I only have access to a Mac, is there any way for me to find out
what the fractions are?

I can see two possibilities there:
The fractions are actually unicode characters and you're out of luck
since Mac:Word does not support Unicode encoding

The Franctions are actually Equation Editor objects and you didn't
install it: Install the Equation Editor from the Office CD, and you
should get the fractions in your text.

I hope it will be the later :-\

MS Word supports only the MacRoman character set, which has no fractions.

Use the metric system - then you don't need the fraction crap.
