how to do auto shows

i have recently got a used HP DV6000 laptop. I have loaded office xp...word,
excel and powerpoint. the computer has vista OS. my old laptop used xp pro
for an OS. My question is....when i get an email with a powerpoint slide
show and try to download it..it won't open. what do i do? with the old xp
pro all i did was click it, it downloaded and it showed on the pc. what do I
do to correct it?? ty.

first thing, the link i got to come back opens as blank page so i got back
thee long way. 2nd...are there any freeware applications???? to fix this???

Which version of Office are you using? If it's not 2007, it's possible you
need to download and install the compatibility pack.

If you sign into the communities and then click the link again, you should
see the complete page.

What free apps are you talking about? The compat pack is free, but we don't
know that that really is your problem because you didn't mention which
version of Office you're using. Did you read the link to the information on
repairing broken file associations?

Do you get an error message when you try to open the files?
