HOW TO DOUBLE INDENT PARAGRAPH?

R

Richard Cray

I want to program a macro to create what screenwriters call a 'dialogue
wrap'. This term merely means to indent an entire paragraph one tab on the
right, and a roughly equal distance on the left (usually this would be
adjustable.

I can find easily how to indent an entire paragraph to the right. But not the
left. What combination of keystrokes or other adjustments are necessary.
In the end, my objective is to do this with one macro keystroke.

many thanks!

How about inventing a style that had the indents the way you want. Then
give it a name and abbreviated name' like "dialogwrap,w" Then with the
formatting palette anywhere on screen (I'm not kidding) you could type
cmd-shift-s w <ret> to set the paragraph to that style. When you are
happy, make a macro to invoke the style with a single keystroke.

If you don't know how to do the last step, ask again.

The formatting palette annoys me: I prefer to close it and assign a specific
keystroke to the styles I use.

(Actually, nearly all the styles I use are on a toolbar that I use in place
of the standard one...)
