How to draw a helix?

Ali

Hi,
In my job I need to draw diagrams and flowcharts pertaining to new ideas in
the office work. I badly need to demonstrate an ever-progressing process
through a helix/coil with a broader base and narrower tip (like a cone). I do
not know how to draw it. it would be highly appreciated if anyone could
assist me in this.

Hi Ali,

You could approximate a helix using half-circles. Here's a step by step:

1. Draw a cicle on the page
2. Draw a line straight through it
3. Select both shapes and choose Shape > Operations > Trim
4..Delete the straight-line segments
5. Shift one of the circular arcs so that it's begin is where the other
arc's end is.
6. Copy and repeat as needed
7. Select all the end-to-end arcs, then choose Shape > Operations > Join

Copy this serpentine shape once, and with the two shapes together, you'll
have a helix (sort of)

Hope this helps,
