Cannot compress a file small enough to send a powerpoint as an email.
Used the archive and created a zip file - but still too large.

Hi Carol -

Basic fact - file compression can only do so much & there are a number of
variables involved which affect that. Some files simply can't be compressed
small enough to be emailed. Depending on the actual size of the file & the
nature of its content that my be the case here.

If the intended recipient isn't required to edit the file you might try Save
As in a different format - such as Web Page or PDF. If that isn't acceptable
the only other thought I can offer is to output the presentation as several
smaller files & let the other user put it back together again once they
receive all the attachments.

PowerPoint already stores data in a highly compressed format, so using
zip or other compression methods won't shrink the file much.

You'll need to work out why the file is so large and fix it or send it
by some method other than email. There are various services that let
you upload a file then send a link to the recipient; if you have a web
site, you can do this yourself.

For the "too big" part, have a look here:

To save you some time, none of the commercial "shrink my powerpoint"
add-ins/programs work on Mac; you don't have to bother with them.

Hi,

Then use something other than email. iChat, MSN Messenger, Yahoo
Messenger and others have transfer limits of about 1 gig.

You can upload your file to the Office Live site and distribute it from
there. That's free. Use Office Live Workspace:
