How to embed a wav file to a Power Point

I have received by e-mail a lot of Power Point files with a beautiful
formating of pictures and a background sound, and in a size of only a few KB.
All the time that I've tried to create one with the same elements: picture,
sound ,skamm size, I have the same problems:
- if I add a mp3 file using the option, Insert Movie& Sound, when I send it
by e-mail, the recipeint just see the slide show with no sound.
- if I add a wav file, it comes to turn on a huge file with some Mb of size.
What is the trick ? It is just bothering me, because everybody does it, and
it seems to have an easy solution that I can't find by myself !!!
Thanks, Denisa

Not a .wav files are created equal. For a distributed presentation with
audio you can first open the audio file in an audio editor (Sound Forge is
an industry standard, GoldWave is a popular free/shareware app). Save the
audio file with settings that minimize its files size, such as mono vs.
stereo, bit depth of 8 bit vs 24, and bit rate of 11k vs 44k. The overall
sound quality will be much lower, but if the intended audience is listening
on standard computer speakers it will be unnoticeable.
