How to embed hidden XML tags.

A. Matt

Hi

I work on a product that wraps MS Word to create a specialised editor. Now a requirement has arisen wherein a user will mark or tag certain texts in a document using different shortcut keys, to tell the system that these are areas to be processed differently. A pre-processor will process these marked texts after the user finishes with the document

I was planning to wrap the marked text in custom XML tags. But I dont want the user to see the tags ( the user might accidently delete some ). Rather would like the marked text to be highlighted or coloured diferently. Is there any way I can do this ? Or is there any other way I can do the same thing

More info. All documents are in .rtf format. Currently only Word 2000 and XP are being used. Havent come around to 2003 yet. :

Thanks
A. Matt

But even hidden bookmarks gets deleted of when users edit a document, right

And by custom char styles, do you mean to say a font style...?

No they get expanded if edited next to.

And yes - a character style is the font styling set as a style. Like
strong or emphasis.
