How to empty deleted items folder with Hotmail?

W

Walter Seepersad

Hi,

I'm using Entourage 2004 to access my Hotmail account and I was wondering if
there was a way to automatically delete items in the 'Deleted Items' folder?
When I select 'Schedules' (under Tools) the 'Empty Deleted Items Folder'
only works for folders on my computer and I cannot set it to folders on my
Hotmail account.

If there is a solution, do you know (as well) if it will also work for IMAP
accounts as well since they have a similar behavior to my Hotmail account.

Thanks,

Walter ...

Hi Walter,

Hotmail and IMAP are slightly different in that aspect; while you can empty
a Deleted Items folder on IMAP, Hotmail has got some restrictions. Hotmail
automatically empties the Deleted Items folder after a specific time
interval, so you don't actually need to do anything. As a matter of fact,
you *couldn't* do anything even if you wanted to, as Entourage does not
allow you to perform the action yourself. If you really need to empty this
specific Hotmail folder, you will have to log in via your browser and use
the Hotmail interface.

As for IMAP accounts: you can simply ctrl-/right-click the Deleted Items
folder and then choose the Empty command from the contextual menu, though I
guess that you have already found that out by yourself. Unfortunately,
schedules don't work for either Hotmail or IMAP accounts.
