How to enable Operations Work Project in PWA2007

The help documentation for PWA 2007 indicates that there is a feature called
"Operations Work Project", but I cannot find it anywhere or figure out how
to use it.

Under the topic of "Create a Project" in help, one of the 3 options says:

"Operations work project An operations work project is a simplified project
that enables you to track and manage a smaller project, such as coordinating
a corporate event."

It says to create one, "On the Quick Launch, click Proposals and Operations
Work". Problem is, on the Quick Launch there is no "Proposals and
Operations Work". Under the heading of "Projects" there is "Project Center"
and "Proposals and Activities".

I have granted myself ProjectServer2007_Administrator rights but still no
joy.

Searching for "Operations Work Project" hasn't gotten me anywhere. Any
pointers or tips on how to actually get this menu item to show up would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Substitue the term activity plan for operations and everything should make
sense. Operations work was used in the early beta days but it appears some
of the documentation is a little late catching up.

I guess that makes sense, but why didn't they update the help files in the
RTM version of Project Server 2007?

Thanks for the info, at least I know that I'm not going totally crazy!

Believe me, old Help files are the LEAST of Microsoft's problems with
Project Server 2007 right now! :)

Is it that bad? We're just about ready to start converting our Project
Server 2003 over to a new Project Server 2007 box.

Thanks!

Project Server 2007 has some absolutely wonderful and powerful new features
that can generate great business value to an organization. If your
organizatin needs these features, then Project Server will be a benefit to
you. Go in with your eyes open, however. Because you will be converting to
pre-SP1 Project Server 2007, you will find many bugs, issues, and poorly
designed features in the system. If you have not already purchased our
Project Server 2007 book for PM's, I would strongly encourage you to do so,
as we document many, if not most, of these bugs and provide some workarounds
until SP1 is released. You can purchase the book at:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll see if our Project guru has that book
already, and if not I'll recommend that he check it out.

This is one of the 'what were they thinking when they designed this' features
of Project Server 2007. It's a great concept but has serious limitations,
most notably the restriction of having only one resource per task. We had
decided to not use this feature at all but we're going to experiment with
having time tracked against the top level entry (the activity plan) and not
have any tasks defined. Not the ideal but at least we can have more than one
person track time against it.
