How to enable the smart tags on received emails(HTML content)?

I am working on custom Smart tag. I want to enable the smart tag on received
emails. Received emails will be in HTML content format. If i reply for that
email then I'll get the smart tag since the defualt editor is the word
document. But I want to enable the smart tag without replying for that email.

Any suggestion will be appreciated

I don't think that's possible. Smart tags are available only when Word is the editor.

Microsoft is specifying that it is possible. But I am not finding the ways
to do it.

As per my knowledge there should be some steps to enable the smart tag.

Right. Maybe this registry value is the issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884197. You didn't say what version of Outlook you're using.

Thanks for the details.

But even after modifiying the registry entry I am not able to enable the
smart tag.

I am working on Outlook 2003.

Hey Sue,

I have found out the problem. After setting the registry value, only the
default smart tags are enabled in the outlook.

This is really great..

but the problem is with the custom smart tag which i have developed. For
this smart tag is not enabled.

I have followed the steps which is provided in the Smart tag sdk for
developing the custom smart tag. And it is working fine in all the office
applications other than the Outlook.

So now we need to figure out what is the problem when we create a custom
smart tag.

I would suggest that you ask about that in one of the general Office programming forums. Maybe someone who has developed a lot of smart tags has run into the same problem.

Hi Brinda,

I too have the same problem in Outlook 2003. Just viewing the received mails, doesnt show the smart tags which i have developed, but when i try to edit the mails, the smart tags appear. Have u found a solution for this problem?
