How to erase old emails ??

I've saw that when you trash lots of junkie email or old email, OE really
doesn't delete them. If you see in Identities folder, you'll see that
Messages goes on increasing its MB !!

So is there any way to delete all those Mb of unusefull files definitively
???

Thanks for any help.

I work on a Mac G3, OS 9.2, and OE is 5.0.6
