How to export a chart as a PNG?

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I feel really stupid having to ask this, but how do I export an Excel chart as a PNG? I have searched the onboard help (worthless), and the forum. All I have found is some cheery info on the Excel Mactopia site telling me I *can* export as jpg/gif/png, but not how to do so.

Copy the chart into Preview. Save it as PNG from Preview.

Hi Tashie -

Control/Right-Click the Chart area, select Save as Picture, then pick your
format & give it a name.

Why go to all that trouble when you can do it directly from Excel - and many
other apps as well? See my reply to the OP.
