news tpg

Hi I would like to backup or copy a outlook 2003 file from my xp pro
computer to my othercomputer that runs on win 98.

When i exported the pst file, and tried to import it I was told they were
not compatible.

Is there another way of doing this. Thanks Tim

Tim,
Follow following steps......

1. click file.. new ...outlook data file.. choose outlook 97-2002 PST .
save it on
the desktop. call it outlook 2000. and when you get the create microsoft
personal
folder window.. give the pst an unique name..name it outlook 2000 again
you will now see this file in your list of personal folders on the left.
2. now click file ...import and export....import from another program or
file..
click next..
3. on the next window click browse and IMPORTANT .. choose your current PST
file..
not the one we created.. to import from.. choose the file ..click
open..click
next
4. on the next windows highlight personal folder.. include subfolders should
be
checked..
5. at the bottom where it says..import items into the same folder in..choose
Outlook 2000 (it should show up there if step 1 has been followed correctly)
6. hit finish/next if everything has been done correctly you should get a
message
that reads..
...you are importing data to a location that does not fully support
unicode....etc
etc.

click OK to this message...

7. the Outlook 2003 pst file data will now get imported into the outlook
2000 pst
file format which can now be imported into Outlook 2002 and outlook 2000 or
outlook 97 program
