How to extract data from a secured Access 97 db??

We have an old password-protected Access 97 database that
I have been requested to extract data from (to reformat
and put into a new repository). The developer who created
the database is long-since gone and so is the Admin
password. We're currently running Access 2002. Any ideas
on how to "break in" to the database to extract the data
from the tables? I don't need to see the structure or run
the database in Access; just extract the data that is
already in there. The relevant message I get when
attempting to open in Access is "You do not have the
necessary permissions to use the '\path\filename.mdb'
object. Have your system administrator or the person who
created this object establish the appropriate permissions
for you."

If you're talking about a straight database password (as oppposed to having
applied Access security, so you need a user id & password), MichKa's got

Thank you Doug; the utility does take care of the database
password as described. Unfortunately my problem lies in
the Access workgroup security. I have one of the USER IDs
(ID & password) but no one here knows the Admin ID and
password, and that is needed to get direct access to the
tables. Do you know of any way to get the Admin ID out of
the system.mdw or to reset it?

not sure if it will work - but you might want to create a
blank database and then import the tables. This should
strip them of their security protection. Or you can look
up the workgroup path that the database is using and
overide the .secured file with a more current one - bot
break the lock. (wink wink)
