Hi LiveWire,
As you've mentioned in the MS Office discussion group, you're aware that MS Vista Home Premium does not include MS Fax. One option
would be a different Vista version, but you can still Fax from within Word via a couple of methods.
- If the 'Print to Fax'/Fax capability of your printer provides its own ability to Fax (i.e. it isn't relying on Windows fax
service, but provides its own capabilities, and assumes you have a Fax modem in your new computer). Some folks have reported that if
they upgraded WinXP to WinVista then they have to completely remove the old drivers, restart and install the Vista ones for this to
work.
- Use 3rd party software such as
http://snappysoftware.com
- Use an online/internet Fax service such as those listed on
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/CE0171881033.aspx
- Use a standalone fax machine. I've found several at thrift shops for as little as $5
As more folks have phone service that uses VOIP for Internet connection, or only cell phones and no land lines in their homes,
including fax/modems in computers has become a 'configuration option on purchase' type of thing for a number of suppliers.

Thanks Bob. The first post of mine I very upset and as I said in it, I was venting and it was a rant. As I read your reply, you cant even qoute the actual title of post? "very dissapointed with ms", where is it? I reposted it and thats was gone in 2 minutes. I cant believe it. Are you in N Korea? Am I? Anyway, my printer does not have a fax, if it did I wouldn't have posted, don't want to spend money for one, or $40 on snappyfax for the occasional fax. Thats what you dont get. I had it, upgraded to vista now dont. All you can suggest is to upgrade again to V bussiness or Ultimate, buy a new $120+ printer with fax, buy $40 software, buy second hand stand alone fax to which I have no room for and takes its own toner/ink. Buy,Buy,Buy. Look these are fixes to my occasional fax use, but heres one you didn't mention, How about reintroducing it to Home/premium in a Windows Update. You have it in Business and Ultimate, give to the home user as it was with xp home. The sofware is written
