how to filter portion of a visio diagram for printing

I like to find out techniques to display a portion of a large visio data
flow diagram programmatically. I prefer to assign attribute values in
different locations to control printing portion of the diagram. I have some
experience with database and vb programming. Any suggestions and advice are
appreciated

you might consider adding the portion of the drawing to a separate level and
then just display the level(s) that you want

Another approach could be to create a Paper Size mask with a whole in it to
reveal the part of your diagram that you want to print. Then you can
temporarily change the page to match your "Paper" before printing.

Visio 2003 has two options on the print dialog that may help.
1 - Print Selection
2 - Print Current View
