How to find & replace all dates eg 3.19.2009 with 3-19-2009, ect?

In my papers, dates are formatted as 3.19.08. I want to replace the periods
with dashes- all in one operation.

On the home tab, go to find
Type your date in the find box
add your new date to the replace box
click replace all

Use a wildcard search (http://www.gmayor.com/replace_using_wildcards.htm),
finding

([0-9]@).([0-9]@).([0-9]@)

and replacing it with

\1-\2-\3

That's almost too simple. Thanks, Jay!
And the link to gmayor helped me better understand how you figured that out,
and perhaps how I can figure out the next find and replace.
