How to fix a slow PowerPoint

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

When I type into an open slide, the letters are delayed by about 3 seconds before I see them on the screen. I am working on a MACPro with 8GB of Ram, I don't think that the computer is not fast enough. Any suggestions?

Make sure Office is fully up to date. You shoudl be in version 12.1.1.
The updates corrected quite a few slowdowns.

I have the same issue. Nobody responded to my thread, so I'll try here.

I not only has 12.1.1 installed, but I gave up, uninstalled it, deleted all pref files in root and my user, reinstalled, and same problem. I have a 4GB 10.5.4 system.

have the same problem. it only appeared since the 12.1.1 update actually. i updated to 12.1.2 and the problem is still there. what i notice is that if i quit powerpoint and reopen the same file, it works fast again for a while, i still have not determined what makes it go slower.

have a MBP with 4GB of RAM so that can't be the cause. all fonts are arial.

I have noticed that if you have any font management installed and are using tiger that powerpoint slows way down. Remove font management and it is fine. Not a good work around but only thing we can do to be able to use it
