Can you let us know that which version of outlook you are using and if
possible what is the exact error message you are receiving because you can
receive this prompt for various issues.
It can be possible that you have just installed office or the mapi32.dll
file is either missing or wrong version for this I would recommend you to
follow the link and see what happens.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260970
And if it does not work then your data file could be corrupt as well for
this I would request you to follow the following link.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227
And if it does not work you can try creating a new profile for your outlook.
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA101923281033.aspx
Note-: If you create new profile do make sure that you select Prompt for a
profile to be used because you are checking and if it works we need to import
the data from old profile to new profile (Not Recommended as data file/Data
can be corrupt).
How to import the data in outlook;
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287070
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290859
If it still does not please let us know the error message as it could be a
different issue as well.
The location for a default data file is
C>Documents and Settings>User name>Local Settings>Application data>
Microsoft>Outlook.

I need help opening Outlook! I get the following message every time I try
to
open the Outlook application: "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open
the Outlook window". I went into Account Settings and repaired my email,
and
searched on all HELP sites and still no luck. I run Windows Vista and the
2007 suite of office products.
Any ideas? Thanks.
