how to fix highlight function sticking

My curser sticks when high lighting an area and will not release. As I move
the curser, the hight lighted area moves with the curser. I have to close the
program via ctrl-alt-del. Currently I cannot open a file without this
occuring.

I have the same problem

They say restart the PC but why should I MS needs to have a fix for this. HELP

Try tapping the wheel hard a few times on your wheel mouse. If that fails
reload the mouse drivers

I have also had this problem repeatedly. Is there any response from MS about
this? Banging the mouse seems a bit brutal.
