How to fix my ON07 settings for backup?

M

Ms. Fanny GTC

Hello everyone,

I need help to configure these settings. If my backup is configured to keep
2 copies of any file (e.g. A, B)... every time that syncronization happens,
the last version of the file (e.g. C) is not backed up, I mean, C doesn't
replace B.
As consequence, B doesn't replace A.

Any help to fix this? Any input is highly appreciated!

I'm not sure what you're asking. Can you clarify?

Are you talking about the settings found in Tools | Options | Backup?
Those settings should create no more than the specified number of backup
files, and will delete older files as needed.

If there are no changes to a file during the most recent backup period,
there will be no new backup made - the most recent backup made when the
last set of changes were applied to that Section will still be retained.
Otherwise, you should see in the Backup folder (as specified in Tools |
Options | Save | Paths | Backup Folder:) a folder for each Notebook, and a
copy of each Section with "(on 05-13-2008) appended to the end of the
filename. That date indicated the date on which that backup was made. As
a result, you shouldn't see any of the files being replaced by other
backups.

For your example, when it is time to make the third backup ("C") it should
delete the "A" backup of the file, and you are left with "B" and "C" with
the corresponding dates in the filenames.
