How to fix new number of license issue

Hi. I am hoping someone here can tell me where the keys live that will
allow me to fix my "This installation of Microsoft Office X exceeds the
number of installations permitted by the license agreement" issue.

My wife and I each have a PowerBook. We each have had our own copy of
Office.

Recently, I got a new PowerBook. I gave her my old one. While I tried
to move her preferences and Apps to the right places, I must have missed
something. Now, when she is using Microsoft Office, I get the "This
installation of Microsoft Office X exceeds the number of installations
permitted by the license agreement" message, and if I had been using it,
she gets it.

The easy solution is probably to go find the original CDs and reinstall
Microsoft Office for each of us. However, those CDs were purchased
two-houses ago. I bet they are still boxed up somewhere, along with old
Zip disks, floppies and other old media that I havent had a need to
locate.

If anyone can tell me where the relevant files live that need to be
moved to restore correct functionality, I would truly appreciate it.

Resetting the PID might help; follow the instructions on this website:

Note that you will need to have the registration codes for that.

Unfortunately, finding the reg codes may be harder than finding the CDs.
I think I recall that when I installed, no reg code was requested. I
believe the CDs were keyed already.

I still have my wife's old PowerBook. I can run Office on that machine
without either of the other two PowerBooks threatening to quit Office.
Obviously those other PowerBooks are both using the reg code that
belongs to my copy of Office. Is there any file I can take off of my
wife's old PowerBook and place onto her new one that would make it use
her old reg code? thanks!

Sorry, as far as I know, there are no easily accessible files which contain
the registration key. There's not much you can do at this stage, except
finding your old registration keys or buying a new copy of Office. If none
of these options are acceptable, you could always make sure not to run
Office at the same time on both computers.

I could be way off here, but is the registration key the same as the
"product ID" number that shows up when you click "about Entourage" or "about
Word" in the Product menu?
