How to force my PC to link to Office 2003 instead of 2007

O

Office 2003 lover

Recently I bought a new PC with Window XP. The PC seems to have a trial
version of Office 2007. Since I do not want to spend extra money, I
installed Office 2003 which I bought for a while ago. It has been working ok
till yesterday, but yesterday someone sent me Word 2007 file and since I
opened it, all my word and excel files are associated to version 2007, and my
PC keeps warning me that I can open the files with Office 2007 for only
20+some times and ask me to input product key asap. I always use Windows
Explorer to organize my files. How can I force Windows Explorer to link to
2003 instead of 2007?

Uninstall the Trial version of Office 2003 and then Uninstall your version of Office 2003 and then re-install the Office 2003. After download and install the word, excel, power point and etc viewer so that you will be able to read Office 2007 files sent to you

You should have uninstalled the 2007 Trial before installing Office 2003

Remember to save all your needed files before commencing the above.

You should have uninstalled the trial prior to installing your cd version,
Try uninstalling the trial now, you may well have to repair your 2003
installation

Thank you for the assistance. I unistalled Office 2007 trial (I guess that
is what you mean), uninstalled Office 2003 standard, then installed Office
2003. Now link is ok and I can see my own word and excel 2003 files. But
when I opened word 2007 file, File Conversion box popped up and I cannot read
the document in any encoding. My machine is actually set up for Japanese.
Is that the reason? Any way to fix? Thank you.

In order to read a 2007 format file you would need to install the
compatibility pack - at least I think thats what its called - ie a pack that
enables 2003 to view 2007 formated files
