How to get a custom field to be visible in both task n resource vi

Stephen Moras

Hi guys,

I have created a custom field in the task view using Text1 and named it
ProJNo. Problem is i cant get to see this field in the Resource View. I need
this field to distinguish the same name tasks of diff projects that the
resource could be working on. Changing the task name to include the project
No. is not an option.

I read somewhere that its not possible to view a custom field in one view in
other views. Just wondering if someone has got an alternative.

Cheers

Hi,

This problem has been dealt with in FAQ 37 (Custom Fields in Tables) and
there are some interesting comments in FAQ 51 (Data Types).

Hi Stephen,

Yes and No.
It's quite some work but you CAN actually get the result
Task Usage
Show the text field
For each task, copy down the text field into the assignment lines.
Now visible in Resource Usage (because the assignment is the assignment)

Hi Jan,
It worked..Cool...
Prefer this way then the macro as i got multiple mpp files and might need to
consolidate them all in one big mpp. The macro i wud have had to customise n
stuff..

Stephen,
Actually when some process needs to be done repeatedly or on multiple
files, a macro is a much more efficient way to go. Copy and Paste should
be reserved for relatively simple one-shot deals.
