how to get keycodes for xp cd, have cd lost codes

I lost my key code to my xp cd and now I cannot update my computer, what
should i do? I called the compaq numberland for my computer (it is 3 years
old) they said they cannot help my with tech service on a 3 year old computer.

If you are talking about your Windows XP product key, then that
should be on a green label attached to the bottom of your laptop
computer, or to the side or back of your desktop tower.

If you are talking about your Office XP product key, and if
Office XP is currently installed on your computer, then the
product key used to install the software is stored in the Windows
registry, and you should be able to retrieve the product key
using one of these utilities:
