How to get Resource Availability based "Start Date"

Hi There,

I'm not sure if there exists a coined term for what I need. Lemme explain my
requirement in plain english.

"Most of my tasks are 'resource' specific and resources cannot be
interchanged. I have a project plan that runs into 500+ tasks.
When I add a new task, I provide 'Work' and 'Resource Name'. I would like
that the 'Start Date' be automatically calculated based on that particular
resource availability. Ideally it should be 1 day more than the last date on
which that resource is fully utilized. "

Any idea how to achieve this ?

PS : Manually looking for the specific resource's last date and then putting
that task ID as predecessor works but in a large project its too cumbersome
to search for the last date

Thks in advance,

Vivek

Well, you could use Resource Leveling, though it might not always give you
the results you expect.

Or, you could filter or group your tasks by resource name and sort them by
date, to make it easier to use the method you describe.

These are just some ways to do what you are asking to do. More than a few
of us may be wondering why you would want to plan in this way, but that's
another matter.
